MADE OF NOW
December 16-18, 2026 5 Times Square, New York
New York - DISIVA presents MADE OF NOW, an exhibition of contemporary and digital art on the monumental LED billboards of 5 Times Square, Manhattan, from December 16 through 18, 2026. The exhibition examines the presentation of artistic research and the moving image in public space, with particular attention to the relationship between artworks, architecture, and the urban environment.
DISIVA’s exhibition programme brings contemporary art to Manhattan’s large-scale digital screens through a curatorial process involving museum and foundation directors, curators, and gallery professionals with expertise in contemporary art and new media. Their participation brings a range of institutional, scholarly, and curatorial perspectives to the assessment of artistic practices and their presentation in this public setting.
Over three days, MADE OF NOW will situate the selected works within the visual environment of Times Square. The exhibition considers how scale, duration, and the movement of audiences inform the reception of an artwork outside a conventional exhibition space. The urban screen is approached as a medium of presentation whose architectural and social context contributes to the experience of the work.
The curatorial programme will comprise 15 artists selected through the Statements and Kabinett sections. Statements is dedicated to individual artistic practices. Kabinett presents curatorial proposals submitted by galleries and professionally structured exhibition spaces. Together, the two sections provide a framework for individual research and gallery-led projects within a shared programme.
The Curatorial Committee assesses submissions on the basis of artistic quality, originality, conceptual coherence, and suitability for presentation in a large-scale public digital environment. The selection process considers both the research underlying each proposal and the conditions of its presentation on monumental screens.
MADE OF NOW forms part of DISIVA’s ongoing programme of contemporary art exhibitions in public space. It follows The New Media Moment, presented in New York from May 13 through 15, 2026, and Giant Signals, from September 25 through 27, 2026. The exhibition continues the programme’s investigation of urban screens as sites for the presentation and public reception of contemporary art.
