A work made for public digital presentation has to respond to more than a screen’s dimensions. Its rhythm, visual structure and conceptual coherence matter alongside the conditions in which it will be seen.

For the New York 2026 application, the Curatorial Committee considers artistic quality, originality, contemporary research, conceptual coherence and suitability for public digital presentation. These criteria connect the immediate encounter with an artwork to a considered assessment of the artist’s practice.

The committee brings together perspectives from art history, independent curating, galleries and cultural institutions. The full member profiles and published selection criteria offer a way to understand this process before applying.
