Art historian Kevin Muhlen joined Casino Luxembourg – Forum d’art contemporain in 2004 and was appointed Artistic Director in 2009, evolving as Director in 2016. Over a career spanning more than 20 years, he has developed an artistic programme centred on solo exhibitions by international artists, reflecting the institution’s own artistic and curatorial vision. He also regularly invites guest curators to bring external perspectives into dialogue with the institution’s approach, broadening its horizons and fostering new exhibition formats and curatorial exchanges.
Kevin Muhlen initiated the artist residency and artistic research programme at Casino Luxembourg and oversaw the architectural redesign and reorganisation of its spaces in 2016, on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. In 2026, he initiated FORA, a programme marking the institution’s 30th anniversary through artistic encounters and experimentation. One of its flagship projects, Screentime/s, explores the screen as a medium and interface for contemporary artistic practices, examining how digital technologies shape images, narratives and perception.
Alongside his work at Casino Luxembourg, he regularly curates exhibitions internationally and contributes to exhibition catalogues and artist publications. He also serves as President of the commission responsible for public art in Luxembourg.
